Intel e-Business Solution Seminar on 18 May 2001

"The E-commerce of Travel Industry" Seminar which held by Hong Kong Productivity Council, Information Technology Services Department and Trade Industry Council of Hong Kong, was successfully finished on 2 April 2001.

Technology-driven change is
revolutionizing every industry, from retail distribution to wholesale businesses. The pressure of new technologies and hyper-competition is requiring companies to redefine their strategies, products and business processes.

The Travel Industry has already reported dramatic changes in its structure and the general trends affecting the industry include increased competition, changing demands and increased expectations of customers. At the same time, customers are becoming more knowledgeable and growing accustomed to automated technologies. They wish for more frequent travel information, last-minute reservations, global advice, service quality, customized products and market transparency.

During the event, Mr. Dominic Leung, Director of Intisoft Commerce Technology Lab, shared experiences on the trend of E-commerce in Travel Industry and demonstrated how industry players can devise plans to take advantage of new business opportunities for companies such as travel agencies and travel suppliers, reducing operational cost, enhancing customer relationship, collaborating business partners and vendors, and
